Deflazacort tablets contain the active ingredient deflazacort, which is a type of medicine known as a corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are hormones that are produced naturally by the adrenal glands. They have many important functions in the body, including control of inflammatory responses. Corticosteroid medicines are man-made derivatives of the natural hormones. They are often simply called steroids, but it should be noted that they are very different from another group of steroids, called anabolic steroids, which have gained notoriety because of their abuse by some athletes and body builders. Deflazacort is a synthetic steroid that has an anti-inflammatory effect. It is used to decrease inflammation in various different diseases and conditions. Deflazacort works by acting within cells to prevent the release of certain chemicals that are important in the immune system. These chemicals are normally involved in producing immune and allergic responses, resulting in inflammation. By decreasing the release of these chemicals in a particular area, inflammation is reduced. This can help control a wide number of disease states characterised by excessive inflammation. These include severe allergic reactions, inflammation of the lungs in asthma and inflammation of the joints in arthritis. Deflazacort also decreases the numbers of white blood cells circulating in the blood. This, along with the decrease in inflammatory chemicals, can prevent the rejection of organ transplants, as it prevents the body from attacking foreign tissue. It is useful for the treatment of certain types of leukaemia, where there is an abnormally large production of certain white blood cells, and for treating certain diseases that are caused by the immune system attacking tissues in the body (autoimmune diseases). What is it used for? Calcort tablets can be used to treat a wide variety of diseases and conditions that require either reduction of inflammation or suppression of the immune system. These include those listed below.Severe allergic reactions, eg anaphylaxis.Asthma.Rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile chronic arthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica.Inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.Inflammatory disorders of the kidney, such as nephrotic syndrome and interstitial nephritis.Inflammatory eye disorders, eg uveitis, optic neuritis.Inflammatory skin disorders, including pemphigus vulgaris, bullous pemphigoid and pyoderma gangrenosum.Inflammatory disease of the skin and muscles (dermatomyositis). Inflammatory disease called systemic lupus erythematosus, which can affect many organs throughout the body and is caused by the immune system attacking connective tissue in the body. Mixed connective tissue disease. Rare condition involving inflammation in the walls of arteries (polyarteritis nodosa). Sarcoidosis.Rheumatic carditis.Cancer of the bone marrow (multiple myeloma).Acute and lymphatic leukaemia.Cancer of the lymph nodes (lymphoma).Idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura.Anaemia caused by the immune system attacking red blood cells (autoimmune haemolytic anaemia).Helping to prevent the immune system attacking a transplanted organ, eg heart, liver, kidney etc. Spironolactone is used to treat high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. It is also used to treat swelling (edema) caused by certain conditions (e.g., congestive heart failure) by removing excess fluid and improving symptoms such as breathing problems. This medication is also used to treat low potassium levels and conditions in which the body is making too much of a natural chemical (aldosterone).Spironolactone is known as a "water pill" (potassium-sparing diuretic).OTHER USES: This section contains uses of this drug that are not listed in the approved professional labeling for the drug but that may be prescribed by your health care professional. Use this drug for a condition that is listed in this section only if it has been so prescribed by your health care professional. This medication has also been used to treat excessive hair growth (hirsutism) in women with polycystic ovary disease. How to use Spironolactone OralTake this medication by mouth, as directed by your doctor. If stomach upset occurs, take it with food or milk. It is best to take your dose early in the day (before 6 p.m.) to prevent having to get up during the night to urinate. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. In children, the dosage is also based on body weight.Take this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. Remember to use it at the same time(s) each day as directed. It is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick.Take this medication exactly as prescribed. Do not increase your dose, take it more often than prescribed, or stop using this medicine without first consulting your doctor. Your condition may become worse when the drug is suddenly stopped.Inform your doctor if your condition worsens (e.g., if you notice an increase in your routine blood pressure readings).Spironolactone Oral is used to treat the following:Diagnostic Test for Primary Hyperaldosteronism, Low Amount of Potassium in the Blood, High Blood Pressure, Chronic Heart Failure, Accumulation of Fluid Resulting from Chronic Heart Failure, Fluid in the Lungs due to Chronic Heart Failure, Accumulation of Fluid caused by Cirrhosis of the Liver, Accumulation of Fluid caused by Kidney Disease, Visible Water Retention, AscitesSpironolactone Oral may also be used to treat: Disease of Ovaries with Cysts, Diastolic Heart Failure, Male Pattern of Hair Distribution or Hirsutism in a Woman This medication is used to prevent certain types of malaria, a parasite infection, when traveling to certain areas that have malaria. Another drug may be used instead if you are going to an area with resistant malaria. Chloroquine may also be used with other medications to treat certain less severe (uncomplicated) types of malaria or a spreading infection with another parasite (ameba). Chloroquine is an amebicide and antimalarial drug. It works by killing ameba and the form of the malaria parasite that infects the red blood cells.OTHER USES: This section contains uses of this drug that are not listed in the approved professional labeling for the drug but that may be prescribed by your health care professional. Use this drug for a condition that is listed in this section only if it has been so prescribed by your health care professional. This drug may also be used to treat certain immune diseases (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, lupus). How to use Chloroquine Phosphate OralTake this medication by mouth with or without food. Start this medication usually 1 to 2 weeks before you enter the malaria area, and continue to take it during your stay and for 4 weeks after leaving the area, or as directed by your doctor. For treatment of a sudden/severe attack of malaria, take this medication as directed, usually 4 doses over 3 days. The first dose is larger and is followed by 3 smaller doses. On day 1 take the large dose followed 6 hours later with a smaller dose, then take the next smaller doses on days 2 and 3.For treatment of ameba, take this medication as directed, usually once daily for 2 to 3 weeks. The first 2 doses are larger. If you are taking any antacid, do not take chloroquine within 4 hours before or after the antacid.Dosage is based on your body weight, medical condition, and response to treatment. It is very important to continue taking this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. This medication works best when taken exactly as directed. If you are taking this drug once a week, it may help to mark your calendar or travel schedule with a reminder.Do not take more or less of this drug than prescribed. Do not stop taking it before completing treatment, even if you feel better, unless directed to do so by your doctor. Skipping or changing your dose without approval from your doctor may cause prevention treatment to be ineffective, cause the amount of parasite to increase, make the infection more difficult to treat (resistant), or worsen side effects. No drug treatment is completely effective in preventing malaria. Therefore, seek immediate medical attention if you develop symptoms of malaria (e.g., fever, chills, headache, other flu-like symptoms), especially for 2 months after completing this prescription. It is important to prevent mosquito bites (e.g., using appropriate insect repellents, wearing clothes that cover most of the body, remaining in air-conditioned or well-screened areas, using mosquito nets, using insect-killing spray). Buy insect repellent before traveling. The most effective insect repellents contain diethyltoluamide (DEET). Ask your doctor or pharmacist to recommend the appropriate strengths of mosquito repellent for you/your children.Chloroquine Phosphate Oral is used to treat the following:Infection by Amebae that is Not in the Intestines, Malaria caused by the Protozoa Plasmodium Falciparum, Prevention of Falciparum Malaria, Malaria caused by the Protozoa Plasmodium Vivax, Preventive Treatment of Vivax Malaria, Malaria, Malaria PreventionChloroquine Phosphate Oral may also be used to treat: Infection of the Liver due to Amebae, Increased Calcium in the Blood from Sarcoidosis, Porphyria Cutanea Tarda, Chronic Inflammation of Blood Vessels in the Skin, Skin Allergy to Sunlight, Disease that Causes Disc-Shaped Patches On the Upper Body, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Joint Inflammatory Disease in Children and Young Adults
Progesterone is used as a part of hormone replacement therapy in women who have passed menopause (the change of life) and have not had a hysterectomy (surgery to remove the uterus). Hormone replacement therapy usually includes estrogen, which is used to treat symptoms of menopause and reduce the risk of developing certain diseases. However, estrogen can also cause abnormal thickening of the lining of the uterus and increase the risk of developing uterine cancer. Progesterone helps to prevent this thickening and decreases the risk of developing uterine cancer. Progesterone is also used to bring on menstruation (period) in women of childbearing age who have had normal periods and then stopped menstruating. Progesterone is in a class of medications called progestins (female hormones). It works as part of hormone replacement therapy by decreasing the amount of estrogen in the uterus. It works to bring on menstruation by replacing the natural progesterone that some women are missing.Progesterone comes as a capsule to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day in the evening or at bedtime. You will probably take progesterone on a rotating schedule that alternates 10-12 days when you take progesterone with 16-18 days when you do not take the medication. Your doctor will tell you exactly when to take progesterone. To help you remember to take progesterone, take it around the same time in the evening. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take progesterone exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Stugeron tablets contain the active ingredient cinnarizine, which is a type of medicine called an antihistamine. (NB. Cinnarizine is also available without a brand name, ie as the generic medicine.) Cinnarizine is used to control travel sickness and the symptoms of inner ear disorders such as Meniere's disease.Vomiting is controlled by an area of the brain called the vomiting centre. The vomiting centre is responsible for causing feelings of sickness (nausea) and for the vomiting reflex. It is activated when it receives nerve messages from the vestibular apparatus in the middle ear. The vestibular apparatus provides continual feedback to the brain about our body position. When something disturbs the vestibular apparatus, such movement of the head when travelling by boat or car, nerve signals are sent from the vestibular apparatus to the vomiting centre. This can cause sensations such as nausea, dizziness or spinning sensations (vertigo) and the reflex of vomiting.Cinnarizine works by blocking histamine and muscarinic receptors in the vomiting centre in the brain. This prevents the vomiting centre from receiving nerve messages from the vestibular apparatus. In turn, this prevents disturbances in the middle ear from activating the vomiting centre and causing nausea, vertigo and vomiting. What is it used for? Preventing and treating motion sicknessRelieving nausea, vomiting, attacks of dizziness or spinning sensations (vertigo) and sensations of ringing or other noise in the ears (tinnitus) associated with Meniere's disease and other middle ear disorders.

Follow the directions on the package or on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take loperamide exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. If your symptoms do not improve within 2 days (10 days for chronic diarrhea) or if you develop a fever or bloody stools, call your doctor. Drink plenty of water or other beverages to replace fluids lost while having diarrhea. Medical Information:This medication is used to control dandruff. Microgynon 30 ED tablets are a type of hormonal contraception commonly known as 'the pill' or combined oral contraceptive pill. There are two types of tablets in each 28-day pack. The small beige tablets contain two active ingredients, ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel. These are synthetic versions of the naturally occurring female sex hormones, oestrogen and progesterone. Ethinylestradiol (previously spelt ethinyloestradiol in the UK) is a synthetic version of oestrogen and levonorgestrel is a synthetic form of progesterone. The seven large white tablets don't contain any active ingredients. Combined oral contraceptives like Microgynon 30 ED work by over-riding the normal menstrual cycle. In a woman's normal menstrual cycle, levels of the sex hormones change throughout each month. The hormones cause an egg to be released from the ovaries (ovulation) and prepare the lining of the womb for a possible pregnancy. At the end of each cycle, if the egg has not been fertilised the levels of the hormones fall, causing the womb lining to be shed as a monthly period. The daily dose of hormones taken in the pill work mainly by tricking your body into thinking that ovulation has already happened. This prevents an egg from ripening and being released from the ovaries each month. The hormones also increase the thickness of the natural mucus at the neck of the womb, which makes it more difficult for sperm to cross from the vagina into the womb and reach an egg. They also change the quality of the womb lining (endometrium), making it less likely that a fertilised egg can implant there. Microgynon 30 ED is an everyday pill, meaning quite simply, that you take one tablet every day. The tablets come in strips of 28 tablets, with 21 small beige active tablets in three rows and 7 larger white inactive tablets in the last row. The tablets also come with self-adhesive strips, each starting with a different day of the week. These are to show you on which day to take each tablet. Peel off a strip that starts with your starting day, eg, if you start the tablets on a Wednesday, use a strip that starts with 'Wed'. Stick the strip along the top of the strip of tablets, so that the first day is above the pill marked 'start'. You can now see on which day you have to take each tablet. For the first 21 days of each 28-day packet, the tablet you take is an active tablet. Each of these contains the same dose of hormones. For the last seven days of each 28-day pack, the tablet you take is inactive (doesn't contain any hormones). During your seven days days of taking the inactive tablets, the levels of the hormones in your blood drop, which results in a withdrawal bleed that is similar to your normal period. You start the next pack straight away without a break between packs, even if you are still bleeding. The purpose of the last seven inactive tablets is that you get used to taking a pill at the same time every day and just take each packet back to back. This is unlike many other pills, where you have three weeks of taking pills, followed by a week off from pill taking. Microgynon 30 ED might be helpful for you if you find it difficult to remember to start taking your pill again after a pill-free week. You will still be protected against pregnancy while you are taking the inactive tablets, provided you took all the pills correctly, you start the next packet on time and nothing else happened that could make the pill less effective (eg sickness, diarrhoea, or taking certain other medicines - see below). The contraceptive pill results in lighter, less painful and more regular menstrual bleeding. This means it is sometimes prescribed for women who have problems with particularly heavy, painful or irregular periods. Clopidogrel is used to prevent heart attacks and strokes in persons with heart disease (recent heart attack, unstable angina), recent stroke, or blood circulation disease (peripheral vascular disease). It works by blocking certain blood cells called platelets and prevents them from forming harmful blood clots. This "anti-platelet" effect helps to keep blood flowing smoothly in your body. How to use Clopidogrel OralTake this medication by mouth usually once daily, with or without food, or as directed by your doctor. Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. Remember to use it at the same time each day. Viagra is used for: Treating sexual function problems in men, such as impotence or erectile dysfunction. Sildenafil relaxes muscles and increases blood flow to particular areas of the body.Sildenafil under the name Viagra is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) in men. Cisapride is used to treat symptoms of nighttime heartburn in people who have not responded to other treatments.Cisapride comes as a tablet and liquid to take by mouth. Cisapride usually is taken four times a day, 15 minutes before meals and at bedtime.
Tobramycin kills bacteria that cause certain eye infections.Tobramycin comes as eyedrops and eye ointment. The eye drops usually are applied every 4-8 hours; the ointment usually is applied two to four times a day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use tobramycin exactly as directed. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than prescribed by your doctor. To use the eyedrops, follow these instructions: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Use a mirror or have someone else put the drops in your eye. Remove the protective cap. Make sure that the end of the dropper is not chipped cracked. Avoid touching the dropper tip against your eye or anything else. Hold the dropper tip down at all times to prevent drops from flowing back into the bottle and contaminating the remaining contents. Lie down or tilt your head back. Holding the bottle between your thumb and index finger, place the dropper tip as near as possible to your eyelid without touching it. Brace the remaining fingers of that hand against your cheek or nose. With the index finger of your other hand, pull the lower lid of the eye down to form a pocket. Drop the prescribed number of drops into the pocket made by the lower lid and the eye. Placing drops on the surface of the eyeball can cause stinging. Close your eye and press lightly against the lower lid with your finger for 2-3 minutes to keep the medication in the eye. Do not blink. Replace and tighten the cap right away. Do not wipe or rinse it off. Wipe off any excess liquid from your cheek with a clean tissue. Wash your hands again.

Oral furosemide may be used in adults for the treatment of hypertension alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents. Hypertensive patients who cannot be adequately controlled with thiazides will probably also not be adequately controlled with Desal alone. Clomipramine is used to treat obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). It helps decrease persistent/unwanted thoughts (obsessions), and it helps reduce the urge to perform repeated tasks (compulsions such as hand-washing, counting, checking) that interfere with daily living. This medication belongs to a class of medications called tricyclic antidepressants.
